This site provides staff and owners with a number of training courses to allow them to become familiar with the various aspects of the operation of Billie Bear Resort. These courses are required training for staff, and must generally be completed before starting work.
Available courses
This course provides an overview of housekeeping tasks and general guidelines as preparation for on-site practical training. It includes the concept of "guest ready", organization and teamwork, strategies for laundry and cleaning, and some notes on safety.
This course reviews the requirements of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, the responsibilities of employers and employees, and the safe handling and storage of materials used at Billie Bear Resort, including how to recognize hazard symbols and how to read labels and safety data sheets.
Billie Bear's Fire Safety course outlines fire prevention measures for cottages and common buildings, including testing routines for smoke and CO detectors, keeping records of testing, campfire regulations, and fire safety rules for the staff house and other buildings. It provides instructions on what to do in case of fire.
Workplace Health & Safety reviews the requirements of Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act, including the rights and responsibilities of employers and workers.
